The C&P exam is where much of your rating is decided. A little preparation goes a long way.
What it is — and isn't
The examiner is not there to treat you. Their job is to document your current condition and its severity against the VA's rating criteria.
Before you go
Bring a short written summary and keep it simple.
- ✓A list of every condition you are claiming
- ✓How often symptoms occur and how long they last
- ✓Specific tasks the condition prevents or limits
- ✓Any medications, devices, or accommodations you use
Describe your bad days too
Flare-ups matter. If you can walk a mile on a good day but cannot get out of bed during a flare, say both. Answer honestly — never exaggerate, and never minimize.
